James Newman is a multi-platinum selling, Brit Award-winning and Grammy-nominated songwriter. He won a Brit for co-writing the British Single of the Year Waiting All Night, performed by Rudimental and Ella Eyre. He also co-wrote the UK chart-topper, Blame, for Calvin Harris and his younger brother John Newman. The song was a massive hit in several countries.
As a child, Newman became interested in music, and he wrote and produced songs with his younger brother John Newman. During his time at the university James had a band that played different gigs, and in his 20s, James established himself as a songwriter in London.
Newman has worked with many famous artists over the years including Ed Sheeran, Toni Braxton, Kesha, Armin van Buuren and Matoma.
Shortly after Newman signed his record deal with BMG Records, he was asked if he was interested in representing the United Kingdom in Eurovision Song Contest 2020, which was later cancelled due to the pandemic.
“I got to a point where I really wanted to stand on stage and sing to people. And to do something like Eurovision was such a massive opportunity. I got to do that!”
